Early Life (0–10 years old)

Aurelia was born in the upstairs bedroom of a creaky Victorian house while a storm raged outside. Her mother, Sienna, was an illustrator for children’s books, and her father, Jonah, a jazz pianist who worked nights at a harbor-side café.

Her earliest memories are saturated with the smell of salt air and the sound of piano keys drifting through open windows. She learned to read by age four, mostly from picture books scattered across the living room floor. By six, she was building elaborate cardboard forts in the attic and pretending to be an explorer charting unknown lands.

School was easy for her academically but overwhelming socially — she was shy and more likely to spend recess sketching seashells in her notebook than playing tag. At nine, she started ballet classes, her small frame and sharp memory for choreography quickly catching her teacher’s attention.

Teen Years

When she turned 11, her father left for a year-long music tour. It was the first time she realized that adults could miss things they loved to chase dreams they loved more. She poured herself into dance, eventually moving from ballet into contemporary styles.

At 13, she dyed her hair for the first time — a streak of electric blue — after convincing her mom it was “just for a school art project.” That streak became her signature.

By 15, she had an eclectic circle of friends: a poet, a skater, a budding DJ, and a girl who wanted to be an astronaut. Together, they’d sneak out at night to watch meteor showers from the cliffs. Aurelia carried a beat-up disposable camera everywhere, documenting sunsets, graffiti walls, and candid moments.

At 17, she experienced her first heartbreak with someone who moved away suddenly. It was also the year she got her crescent moon tattoo, the night before she left Crescent Bay to attend college in Oregon.

Young Adult Life (18–21 years old)

Aurelia moved to Portland at 18, majoring in Visual Arts with a focus on digital illustration. She quickly became part of the local art scene — sketching in coffee shops, collaborating with street artists, and sometimes performing interpretive dance pieces at open-mic nights.

At 19, she took a summer internship designing album covers for indie musicians, where she learned she could merge her love for music and art into a career. She also started a small online shop selling prints and enamel pins.

By 20, she had fully dyed her hair cobalt blue, saying it felt like “wearing a piece of the ocean on my head.” She began renting her loft, which she filled with string lights, thrifted furniture, and an entire wall of plants.

Now, at 21, she’s building a name as a freelance illustrator while teaching beginner dance workshops twice a week. She’s not rich, but she’s content — her days are stitched together with sketching, dancing, late-night tea with friends, and spontaneous trips to the coast.
